SUMMARY:10 Days of Prayer & Fasting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for 10 intentional days of seeking the Lord through prayer and fasting. We will kick off on Monday\, January 5\, and continue through January 14. We will be corporately participating in the Daniel Fast—see the information below for details. \nWe will not be meeting for in-person prayer; however\, each day at 9 a.m.\, 12 p.m.\, and 3 p.m.\, we invite everyone to pray in the Spirit and take time for personal prayer. \nDaniel Fast Information \nFOODS TO EAT \n\nWhole grains: Amaranth\, barley\, brown rice\, buckwheat\, bulgur\, freekeh\, millet\, oats\, purple rice\, quinoa\, rye\, sorghum\, spelt\, teff\, whole-grain pasta\, whole wheat\, and wild rice.\nBeans and legumes: Black beans\, black-eyed peas\, cannellini beans\, garbanzo beans (chickpeas)\, Great Northern beans\, kidney beans\, lentils\, peanuts\, pinto beans\, and split peas.\nNuts and seeds: Almonds\, Brazil nuts\, cashews\, hazelnuts\, macadamia nuts\, nut butters\, peanuts (technically legumes but commonly considered nuts)\, pecans\, pepitas (pumpkin seeds)\, pine nuts\, pistachios\, poppy seeds\, walnuts\, sesame seeds\, soy nuts\, and sunflower seeds.\nVegetables: All vegetables are allowed (fresh\, frozen\, dried\, juiced\, or canned).\nFruit: All fruit is allowed (fresh\, frozen\, dried\, juiced\, or canned). Dried fruit should not contain added sugar—check the ingredients to be sure.\nOils: Coconut\, olive\, and sesame oils are allowed but should be used sparingly. Sautéing is acceptable; avoid deep-frying.\nOther: Unleavened bread (whole-grain bread made without yeast\, sugars\, or preservatives). All herbs\, spices\, and seasonings are allowed\, including salt and pepper.\nBeverages: Water should be the primary beverage. Distilled\, filtered\, sparkling\, spring\, and mineral water are allowed. 100% fruit juice may be consumed occasionally.\n\nFOODS TO AVOID \n\nAnimal products: Meat (bacon\, beef\, bison\, chicken\, lamb\, pork\, and turkey)\, dairy (butter\, cheese\, cream\, milk\, and yogurt)\, fish and seafood\, and eggs.\nAdded sugars: Agave nectar\, artificial sweeteners\, brown rice syrup\, brown sugar\, cane juice\, corn syrup\, honey\, malt syrup\, molasses\, and raw sugar.\nYeast: Yeast and leavened bread.\nRefined grains: White flour and white rice. Only whole grains are permitted.\nProcessed foods: Foods containing artificial flavorings\, chemicals\, additives\, or preservatives.\nDeep-fried foods: Corn chips\, French fries\, and potato chips. Baked chips may be acceptable if they contain no restricted ingredients.\nSolid fats: Butter\, lard\, margarine\, and shortening.\nChocolate: Milk chocolate\, semi-sweet chocolate\, dark chocolate\, chocolate syrup\, and cacao.\nCaffeinated and alcoholic beverages: Alcohol\, coffee\, caffeinated tea\, and energy drinks.\n\n  \n
